An American Life

I have unfortunately neglected the blog life lately, although my everyday world has been anything but boring. As mentioned earlier, my position in state government is increasingly demanding, and the decision to embark on a legal career in a few months is one I have yet to decide. While the government work and paper pushing can certainly be boring at times, I have taken a great pleasure in analyzing both the style and mannerisms of some of Kentucky's top dogs. Not attempting to blow my own horn, but I would certainly have to include myself on the list of Frankfort's best dressed. Of all my observations, perhaps the greatest dilemma I have come across is the decision to-wear-or-not-to-wear the lapel pin. While I have been wearing one lately, I don't want to be confused with your run of the mill politician and his $ .99 American flag. While it is certainly patriotic, I've recently opted to go with one of my truly prized possessions, the key to my hometown, a gift from the mayor of 31 years who recently passed away.  Although the pin and overflowing handkerchief command attention, I'm also proud to note that the Polo tie and Brooks blazer were found in the local goodwill, for less than $10 combined!!

With another long day in the Capitol completed and a beautiful pre-Spring evening winding down, I finally fired up the grill and went to work on what would likely be my last meal if the situation ever occurs. A fine filet just a bit more than medium, with a baked potato and creamy shells-n-cheese. Throw in my favorite beverage in the world and a piece of toast, it's a damn shame I didn't have an orange...

Thank you for your time, JBH
